One of the most popular locomotives with over 1600 units produced in various configurations. The "Dash-8" is a 6-axle 4,000HP loco that replaced the older SD40-2 units. Often 3 or 4 wide cab Dash 8's would replace 5 SD40-2's on many lines throughout the country.
